Everyone loves a bargain, even on products for children. Don’t we?!
But the cheapest option is not always the safest. The wrong fabric, for instance, can cause deep and painful irritation for a child. Similarly, using a poor-quality feeding bottle may worsen a baby’s colic.
The challenge with low-quality products is that they are often disguised by a seemingly affordable price. What appears to be a bargain today may invite a crisis tomorrow. This is the thinking behind this year’s theme, “Care before Crisis,” a message that resonates strongly with Kid’s Nook.

The story of Kid’s Nook began 16 years ago in downtown Kampala. Founder Diana Kajumba, then an expectant mother, found herself struggling to source quality essentials for her newborn. She moved from one supermarket to another, searching for products that met her expectations, but found limited options.
Instead of settling, Kajumba decided to create a solution. She established a space dedicated to providing quality children’s products.
Interestingly, its first home was a small corner in Downtown Kampala. Since the word “Nook” means a corner, the name Kid’s Nook became a poetic reflection of its humble, intentional beginnings.
Her vision was to create a sanctuary that offers uncompromising quality for children. Sixteen years later, that mission remains unchanged. What started as a single outlet has grown into a trusted brand for many Ugandan families. Today, Kid’s Nook operates two physical stores in Kajjansi and Ntinda Complex, alongside an online platform that delivers products directly to customers.

Returning for the third year as premium sponsors of the Baby and Kids Expo, Kid’s Nook says it will bring a signature stage set-up to the event. However, Kajumba emphasises that the focus goes beyond display.
She says the team is committed to knowledge-sharing, helping parents understand the importance of choosing quality products and the risks associated with poor alternatives.
Visitors, she adds, should expect more than a product showcase. The Kid’s Nook team will provide guidance on selecting safe and appropriate items, while also offering interactive experiences about quality, giveaways and family-friendly activities.
When families visit the Kid’s Nook space at the Baby and Kids Expo on May 16–17, 2026, at UMA Showgrounds, Lugogo, they will not only shop but also learn how making the right choices today can help prevent crises tomorrow.
